U.N. says Iran speeding nuclear program: Nation & World: The Seattle Times: "Iran has accelerated its program to enrich uranium and defied a U.N. Security Council deadline to suspend nuclear activities before Tehran is capable of producing fuel for nuclear weapons, the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency said here Thursday.

I'm glad that the U.N. admits this, but since Iran will not give up its plans, then its nuclear programme must be taken away from it.

The U.N. will not do this. The organisation is an effete talking shop that only serves to protect the interests of tyrants. It's failure to act will be its own death. It will be finished as an organisation. Its last vestiges of credibility and usefulness will have run out.

As usual it will be down to the civilised countries of this world to mop up the damage and take crap for doing so.

America, Australia, Israel and Britain should collaborate on plans to obliterate Iran's nuclear facilities and keep this planet's future safe.

Hyde Park to host 7 July memorial

Hyde Park to host 7 July memorial: "A memorial to the 52 victims of the 7 July bombings will be located in Hyde Park, the government has announced.

There had been initial plans for a memorial in Tavistock Square - site of one of the four attacks on 7 July 2005.

Following consultation with bereaved families, however, Hyde Park has been chosen 'due to its prominence, history and central London location'.

The government has committed up to £1 million to fund the memorial, first announced in February 2006.

'Fifty two innocent people were murdered on 7 July in the worst terrorist atrocity London has ever seen,' said Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell."

In theory this is brilliant.

In practice, you just KNOW that the Muslim Council will get involved and ensure that no reference will be made to Islamic extremism.

Who knows - maybe they'll go the full distance and get Ken to rededicate this a "memorial for all acts of violence, including Israeli state terrorism".

The Palestinians should not get a millimeter more land until they do. Why should Israel commit suicide?

'The issue of recognition was not addressed at all (in Mecca),' Ahmed Youssef said. 'In the platform of the new government there will be no sign of recognition (of Israel), regardless of the pressures the United States and the Quartet would exert,' he said."

If they were interested in progress, then that should have been top of their agenda. It is the reason they are arguing and it is what separates them from having a state.

My guess is the talks ran along the lines of "it's silly us killing ourselves when we should be working together to kill Jews".

1) The Planet Earth has been around for hundreds of billions of years. The weather conditions have varied so much over the years that continents have drifted and meadows have turned to deserts. How was that possible without man's intervention?

2) With Earth's temperature permanently changing, what makes you so sure that the planet wouldn't be getting microscopically hotter anyway? What makes you think that this planet is currently at the "right" temperature? What is the "right temperature"?

3) How did the ice age come about without man's presence on this planet? How did the dinosaurs become extinct without the industrialised world's rape of Planet Earth and what sort of Aerosols did Noah use to cause the flood?

4) What's with all the snow?

5) What is the more realistic threat to Earth in the short term, a small rise in temperature or Iran having the nuclear bomb?

6) What happened to all the fuss about Global Cooling a few years back? With scientists changing their minds so often, what makes you think they definitely have it right this time?

7) If the damage done is practically irreversible without a return to a pre-industrialised era, wouldn't life be better on a slightly hotter planet anyway? Why destroy our society rather than just adapt to the changes (as man always has). Isn't the panic just being generated to crush Western power? Isn't this all "Socialism by stealth"?

8) Why does the environmental scaremongering lobby seek to vilify, stifle and ridicule anyone who dares voice different conclusions?

9) Why the hell are you so bothered about something that may inconvenience our great, great, grandchildren in 100 years, but not about fascists who want to kill us now?

10) Wouldn't Branson be showing greater care for this planet and its people if he offered money to anyone who screwed up Iran's nuclear programme or someone who killed Zarqawi before an Al Qaeda-bot can detonate a dirty bomb?

Britain is a 'police state for Terrorists'

How many times this week have we seen the concept "Britain is a police state for muslims" bandied around in the media? This "talking point" was first brought up by Muslim organisations and was echoed by Islamofascist Anjem Choudary on Newsnight.

The impression they'd like to get across is that the police are picking on random, normal, peaceful Muslims. That it's a policy of stop and search.

In reality, the Muslims that come under police scrutiny are the Jihadists. Yes, many are not guilty of anything other than extremism, but if that makes them a suspect it's their fault.

Take Abu Bakr, for instance, whose bookshop sells the most vile extremist propaganda. People involved in the dissemination of such material deserve to be subjects of police scrutiny and have no moral case for complaint.

Abu Bakr was one of nine men held in Birmingham last week over an alleged plot to kidnap and behead a British Muslim soldier. He was released without charge on Wednesday and made a scathing attack on the police and security services....

Mr Bakr, 27, whose bookshop was raided after his arrest, said that in the week he was held he was questioned no more than four times, and for no more than an hour each time.

He said: "It was farcical. I was questioned for seven days but not once did they put these allegations about a plot to kidnap and behead a soldier to me. It felt like they didn't really know what they were doing."

He said Britain was now a "police state for Muslims". "It's not a police state for everyone else, because these terror laws are designed specifically for Muslims.

And whose fault is that, Abu?

In the days when the IRA were the only active terrorist organisation in the UK, the anti-terror laws were aimed at the Irish.

Today, the terror threat comes from Muslims. It would therefore be silly to aim anti-terror action at Eskimos, Kiwis, or Romanians!!!

If the actions of Islamic extremists and terrorist groups result in a "police state for Muslims", then those are the people the Muslim community should blame. Not the police & security services who are trying their best to save our lives.

Self-reflection is a hard thing for an embattled minority to do, but Muslims should not expect the British people to sit back and be murdered.

Professor outrages Jews with book claim

"A Jewish academic has shocked Italy by stating that Jews murdered Christians during the Middle Ages so that their blood could be used in ritualistic ceremonies.

The details were revealed in yesterday's Corriere Della Sera newspaper which published extracts of the book by Professor Ariel Toaff, Easter of Blood. European Jews and ritual homicides.

Last night his claims were denied by leading Jewish figures including his father Elio, once chief rabbi of Rome.

In the book, Prof Toaff describes the multilation and crucification of a two-year-old boy to recreate Christ's execution at Pesach, the Jewish Easter. The festival marks the fleeing of the Jews from Egypt and Prof Toaff says Christian blood was used for 'magic and therapeutic practices.'

In some cases the blood was mixed with dough to make the azzimo, unleavened bread, eaten at Pesach.

He says the acts took place in northern Italy, around the city of Trento in German-speaking areas that border modern-day Austria.

Prof Toaff bases his book on confessions he says came from Jews captured and put on trial for the practice, which took place from 1100 and 1500."

The article goes on to reveal how Professor Toaff's "evidence" came from Jews tortured into admitting crimes they didn't commit. But hey - let's hope facts and decency don't stop him earning a few quid out of this and, at the same time, fueling widespread antisemitism.

Toaff reveals that the accusations against the Jews of Trent 'might have been true.'

"My grandfather, who lived to be more than 100 years old, used to say, "I've seen them all and there are none like the Jews. " When Israel was established in 1948, for the first time, the homes in our small Druze town had electricity and running water and every child received a quality, free education. For the first time in his life, my grandfather, a retired factory worker, received a pension and had access to quality health care. He said that a society could be judged by the way it treats the elderly, sick and unemployed, and that Israel had proved itself both strong and compassionate.

That is the untold story of Israel, a nation that measures its strength not by its wealth or military prowess but by the vibrance of its civil society, where there are now more than 40, 000 independent civic associations.

Arab-Israelis have a standard of living higher than any of their brethren living in the region. They are full citizens who can vote and be elected to public office. They have the right to worship, assemble and speak freely without fear of intimidation or oppression. The freest Arabs in the Middle East reside in the Jewish state of Israel.

In my hometown, I have seen the fulfillment of the Israeli dream: young professionals of all faiths who have established successful careers in law, medicine, business and diplomacy. None of us would have had that opportunity were it not for the free and open society in which we live.

Today, our freedom is threatened by the vile ideology of hate spewed by Hamas, Hizbullah and other similar organizations. With the support of their backers in Tehran and Damascus, these extremists rain rockets down upon Israeli villages and send suicide bombers into our buses and markets.

The defense against this onslaught requires military action, but the solution to the complex issues that have brought us to this point is found in the strong bond that has developed between Arabs and Jews in Israel. If we peacefully co-exist in Haifa and Ussifiya, why not in Gaza, Beirut or the rest of the region? Today, we look to our borders wondering when our neighbors will embrace the dream of peace rather than the nightmare of war."

You don't have to be religious to support Israel. You don't even need to be Jewish. You just need to know right from wrong.

We are not anti-Muslim and we are open to the establishment of a separate Palestinian State (as soon as Israel's neighbours have rid themselves of terrorism, violent antisemitism and the desire to wipe Israel off the face of the map). We do not support suicidal optimistic gestures for peace. Look at Gaza and learn!

We are not mired in traditional values. We aren't framing our policy around religious beliefs, but modern morality and a moderate political perspective. Israel is a tiny country yet, despite a perpetual fight for its very existence, it is a bastion of modern, progressive values and an oasis of democracy in the Middle East.
